How the calculation works
The selected format is serialised as a URL, UTF-8 text, Wi-Fi payload, vCard 3.0, mailto, SMS, telephone URI or UTC calendar event. A local QR encoder applies the selected error-correction level, quiet zone and colours.
Worked example
For a web link, enter https://example.com and choose M error correction with a four-module margin. Generate, download and scan the image on a second device before printing. For Wi-Fi, enter the exact SSID and security type; the resulting QR contains the password.
Assumptions and limitations
QR content is limited to 1,500 UTF-8 bytes here for manageable codes. Higher correction levels reduce capacity. Compatibility varies for contact, SMS, event and Wi-Fi formats. This tool generates static codes; it does not provide redirects, tracking or later editing of printed codes.
Keep foreground dark and background light. A large image cannot fix inadequate printed module size or poor contrast. Anyone with the Wi-Fi QR can read its credentials. Test intended scanners and print size before distribution; review links before visiting them.
Common questions
Can I change a QR destination later?
A downloaded static QR encodes its contents permanently. You can change content at a URL you control, but this tool does not run a redirect service.
